I have just been fitted with the Upya foot and it is making noise.

Upya has joints that may make small noises when it is new and worn for the first time. Don’t worry, as specified in the assembly manual, these noises disappear after a few minutes/hours of use. If the noises persist, please contact your P&O.

Is there a particular Upya foot setting that should be adopted to achieve the best possible gait?

Upya is a prosthetic foot that can be worn with very flat shoes. However, there may be some conditions where the stride may not flow smoothly, in this case: 1. 1. Make sure that the Upya foot is suitable for your patient’s weight (P3, P4 or P5): https://exoneo.eu/en/produit/upya-p3-light-flesh/ 2. You can adjust the pyramid setting a few degrees to the front to smoothen the stride. 3. You may also place a 2 to 5 mm thick heel pad in the patient’s shoe.

Is there a typical patient profile (age, activity level, weight, etc.) for using Upya?

This is the strength of Upya! Any patient, as long as they meet the weight and size criteria, can use Upya. Upya is available in 3 weight ranges from 50 to 110kg in sizes from 25 cm (size 38-39) to 28 cm (size 43-44). Do you have a method or tool in place so that I can make a leg design for my patient that can fit the ankle of the Upya foot?

Is the cosmetic cover fragile?

The cosmetic cover has been carefully tested by EXONEO’s technical team for resistance, including abrasion and puncture. The cosmetic cover is guaranteed for 6 months. If the foot is used as recommended and the user does not walk barefoot, the cosmetic cover will not be damaged. However, be sure to round off the cut of Upya’s forefoot for sizes 25 cm and 26 cm so as not to damage the inside of the cover: video cutting/sanding

I don't understand, the Upya foot I just assembled for my patient is size 27 but the cosmetic cover seems smaller, did you get my order wrong?

Isn't it too complicated to recut the toe to fit a 25 cm or 26 cm foot?

Absolutely not, polyamide is an extremely resistant material but easy to cut: a simple metal saw is enough. Sanding is then necessary, with a manual or an electric sanding tool to round off the edges and avoid damaging the cosmetic cover : https://youtu.be/azYrboCf6jQ

Is it possible to use a different cosmetic cover from the one provided with the Upya foot

Upya has been designed to work ONLY WITH its own cosmetic cover, which is stretchable and flexible to allow the flexion of the toes. In addition, the Upya cover allows the mechanics of the foot to be preloaded in order to guarantee its performance and comfort.

Can the Upya foot work with electronic knees?

Is the Upya foot heavy?

As it is made up of several parts, the Upya foot can give the impression that it is heavier than its competitors. However, it weighs just under 700g with its cosmetic cover.

Is the white foam piece in the heel strong?

The heel cushioning is very durable. It is a patented technology that is used by Adidas and others in their running shoes to provide optimum comfort with every step. This cushioning has passed all the resistance tests it has been put through, and keeps its shape over time. It is available in 3 densities matching the weight categories P3, P4, P5.

What is the purpose of the bar that connects the heel to the midfoot? Is this part fragile?

This part is a connecting rod that allows the forces to be transmitted from the heel to the midfoot, and vice versa, during the walking exercise. It plays an active role in the walking comfort. This part is made of a lubricated material and is resistant.

Should I use a hair dryer or talcum powder to put the cover on?

It is not necessary to use talcum powder to fit the cover. However, in certain storage conditions, you can warm the cover slightly with a hair dryer to soften it and make it easier to put on the large sizes.
